In days of old the best man at a wedding had a very distinct and specific role.  Should the groom die in battle before the day, the best man would step in and marry the bride to save her honour.  

Nowadays the magnitude of the job is huge, it’s not simply the stag do and an empty promise to marry a bride that isn’t yours, the role of the best man now, is a precarious one, which carries a multitude of responsibility.

The best man treads the fine line between cracking a series of witty one liners’ or cringe-worthy faux pas’.   The difference quite simply between social acceptance and social obscurity.
